From 1965 to 1982 he covered grand prix motor racing for The Guardian, and later The Observer.Motoring correspondent of Town (Haymarket) 1966-1968, News of the World 1973-1975, and The Observer 1980-1983, he was motoring editor of Sunday magazine 1982-1985 and Road and Car 1983-1986. He was UK correspondent for Autovisie (Holland) and magazines in Italy and Spain.
