Tear away stabilisers are a type of embroidery backing designed to provide temporary support for fabrics during machine embroidery. They are particularly useful when working with delicate or stretchy fabrics, as they prevent the fabric from stretching or puckering during the embroidery process. Our tear away stabilisers are made from premium, soft non-woven polyester. This stabiliser is 40g, which is the standard weight suitable for lightweight to medium weight fabrics. Heavier weights should be used for heavier fabrics, when a high density or complex embroidery design is being sewn, or when embroidering on polo shirts or knitwear. To use a tear away stabiliser, - simply cut a piece slightly larger than the embroidery hoop and place it underneath the fabric before tightly hooping. Once the embroidery is complete, simply tear away the stabiliser from the back of the fabric to the stitch line, leaving a clean and professional finish. Tear away stabilisers do have some limitations. They are not suitable for fabrics that are very thin or sheer, as they may leave visible marks or holes after being removed. Tear away stabilisers are a versatile and affordable option for machine embroidery, particularly for beginners or those working with delicate or stretchy fabrics. They provide temporary support during the embroidery process and can be easily removed to leave a clean finish. Comfortable against the skin, good for clothing, heirloom sewing and quilting. Ideal for: Machine embroidery / Applique / Monogramming / Decorative Embroidery. This is the standard weight of stabiliser. Multiple pieces can be used for work that requires additional stability.
