They do not go into the ear channel. They rest outside the channel. They're marked L and R as they're intended to fit like a pair of shoes.

Not sure how it compares but the Sony in ear ultra lightweight stereo bass earbud headphones broke apart quickly. It did have a great sound though. I

I’d say likely made in China. Didn’t last long at all. Flimsy. The ear bud separated at a seam. Was able to put back together once but a goner after that. I got a sephia brand that is good quality and still working well 3 or 4 months after purchase.
